Distractions
Monday, August 11, 2014 | By: Daphne Ellenburg
As I write this, I'm bombarded with seemingly endless distractions. Ringing phones, iPhone alerts for Emails, Facebook, To-Do Lists, emails that are constantly changing my To-Do lists, A stack of paperwork that demands my attention, a pile of laundry {never set up your make shift desk next to the laundry room} and the fact that it's a beautiful summer day happening right outside my window doesn't help the situation. Did I mention all the college freshmen? Arrrgh. Sigh. Four kids, 5 if count Mike, running my college bookstore while trying to get my business to rocket ship into the sky is exhausting. This past week I decided that working out would give me more energy to tackle my giant task lists. Last week I biked 29 miles on my bike to nowhere. I'm tired and bit sore, but I am knocking out that long list. Here is this week's distraction:
Gator football. We picked up a big contract photographing the fall sports for our local High School and doing all the graphic design for the Football program sold at all the home games. It's a big undertaking during fall rush for me and it just keeps growing. Every day I think - I'll have it finished today, then someone miraculously sells another 3 pages of ads. Which is really fantastic for the program, so no complaints here. I'm just a bit of a control freak. I'll have this "makeshift, working strange hours, so I can be a member of my family" desk for a few more days.
Our top 10 is always in no particular order. When you enjoy the photograph, check out the artist. Chances are you will enjoy more of their work. Ready. Set. Here we go...

What's New with Daphne Ellenburg?
My week has been blocked off by Fall rush at the college and Gator football. I am also squeezing in being a wife and mother, but shouldn't that be the other way around? It feels like it should, but I know enough that it's not. But until I sort it all out, I'm still burning my candle at both ends. My real problem is that I want everything I do to be better than the last. This football program is pretty darn attractive. I'm really excited about making something special for something my son is so crazy about, so I will continue to dream of gators until I finish up this book. (Fingers crossed for 2 more days tops.)
Here is my Gator. You are looking at the incoming Freshman.
Bought a scanner - I know welcome to the 20th century.
And I bought a snow sled. In the summer. In South Alabama. This is miraculous. Mike found it.
Took Madison to the bookstore with me a couple days. She didn't do much work though.
Best part of the week was stopping off at this park after church. It was so quiet and peaceful.
I call this, "A loving choke hold" - an Ellenburg Sibling tradition.
Wishing you a wonderful week of fun, family and photography. Make it a GREAT week!
XoXoXo,
Daphne
