Week 18, our Natural Light Favorites!
Friday, May 04, 2012 | By: Daphne Ellenburg
Making the most of Natural Light is the one thing any photographer can do to improve their skills. There is so much variety with Natural Light that you could spend years honing your technique. The same photo taken at different times of day or in different weather looks entirely different, and choosing your favorite is part of developing your own personal photography style. My favorite thing about shooting in natural light is finding ways for it to naturally reflect on my subject (position is everything) or maybe it's the fact the my subjects don't have catch lights in their eyes from my studio reflectors or soft boxes. The great thing about this week's theme is we saw all kinds of different times of day - great shadows, great sunbursts and great pops of color. There is nothing better, in this photographer's opinion, than shooting in Natural Light.
This week's top ten is in no particular order. The artist's information is listed below the photograph. If you like what you see, shout it out. Every photographer could use some encouragement - photography is an endless battle of gadgets, lenses and settings - it feels good when you get it all right - like the planets are finally in alignment and powering your amazing photography skills - or something like that. Either way, pay it forward and give out some pats on the back!

What's new with Daphne?
This week's Bridal show was a hit. Not only did I make some new friends, get to spend the day with my wonderful husband and beautiful brides to be, but I got hone my skills as a professional-grade grommet specialist. {I made my own backdrop} Here's a shot of 23 week pregnant Daphne.
I made some cool show marketing...
Bought some great shoes in a whole size bigger, {thank you new baby}
Mike & I took Madison to eat sushi for the first time. She tried it all, but really likes a California Roll. It was just as much fun to eat as to watch her eat.
The last two Max's came in. {I love them!}
And I've been experimenting the fun that is Animoto. Have you checked these guys out? Here's my first slide show...it's really cool.
All in all - it was an outstanding week! Wishing you a great week filled with Family, Fun and Photography!
