A new Baby

Sunday, January 22, 2012 | By: Daphne Ellenburg

Wow, a new baby is coming. If I told you things like, "This is number four, I've got this under control" or " This last one will be a piece of cake" I'd be a giant liar! {Giant, not to insinuate largely pregnant} The truth is that I'm nervous.
(I'm Seriously in love with this photograph)

My doctor made me read that Pregnancy over 35 pamphlet - and everything, and I mean everything has me on High Alert. It's not like I'm 100, I'm only 36. (Newly 36 for that matter)
Michael loves to make light of my new found paranoia. Prime example: Saturday night I forced a family movie marathon of end of the world movies caused by comets or asteroids because Jackson is studying them in school this week. (I know it's Lame, but I did anyway and all night you heard things like "Thanks a lot Jackson, the movie is depressing") Somewhere in the beginning of the 2nd movie "Armageddon" Michael started "flicking" my leg. We are a playful bunch. I told him, "Will you please stop Flicking your pregnant wife" and he responded, very seriously..."Daphne, I will not let this pregnancy handicap you. I'm treating you the same as always." What a goof ball. This is what I've got in store for me for the next several months.

Three things I learned about my pregnancy this week...
1. Babies like a routine before they are born too. I usually get up at 4am, have a cup of coffee, bike 10 miles and wake up #1 for school. I like to sleep in on Saturdays...baby would have none of that. Angry baby all day. Sunday, the heck with it, I'm back on routine, maybe baby will permit a nap.
2. My favorite Gummy Prenatal Vitamin has NO IRON. Uncool. And what's the big deal with Iron anyway? So I googled it....apparently I need to take in iron so baby gets oxygenated blood deliveries...So I had to swap my vitamins. And I can't chew them. Darn.
3. Baby Bumpers are now "Criminal" - wow lots of great things change in 4 years. Guess I can toss out the bumpers I've got hoarded up in the attic. Great, one less thing to shop for with this new baby.

Can't wait to see what I learn this week...
XoXoXo, Daphne
