I love the end of May. Memorial Day Weekend is the first Unofficial / Official weekend of summer around here. Almost everyone I know is at the beach, went to the beach or is going to the beach. So I went too. A week of fun in the sun seemed appropriate.  Imagine me, a blanket, an umbrella, the New Dan Brown book and four tiny Ellenburgs. It was a great afternoon. Seriously, Jefferson ate his first bite of sand. You guys found a great variety of sunshine fun. Lots of people. Lots of places. Lots of animals. It was great to see your exciting adventures! School is out. Happy Summer Time.

Week 23's theme is: "FASHION"

I decided to go a little Gatsby on you with baby Jefferson's photo this week. {And I'm currently reading the Great Gatsby before I see the movie and will swoon over everything Gatsby.} He made an excellent subject to test the new 35mm lens on. 

I love it. Edited in CS6 with Portraiture. I shot it super soft at 1.4 - I love how little light I need for this super fast lens. And the whites were super white. Very nice.

What's New with Daphne Ellenburg?

I baked what I'm sure is my first cake of the year for Grant's birthday.  How's my super wacky Minecraft cake? We rocked out his birthday party on "Birthday Eve" It was a real fun party.

And it's a good thing we did celebrate early, the next day he spent his birthday battling Poison Oak. Poison oak is birthday kryptonite. Lesson learned: Leaves of three, let them be. I love all these group baby Ellenburg shots. Poor birthday Grant.

Michael rented the house I painted last week. Hooray. This house is so cute. It's in Chickasaw, Alabama.

And my big news of the week is that I brought back "Summer Daphne" and have been referring to myself as such in the third person as Summer Daphne all week. I lighted my brown hair and I got highlights for the first time EVER and with super thick hair like mine, that's quite a time commitment. I was there for like three hours. I felt like an awkward train wreck. But I love it! the Gals at Studio 114 did a great job! Here's a quick self Portrait.

Today, sweet Madison is dancing on the BIG stage. Wish her luck.
