Get a Grip

This week, Week 12, was inspired by Alfred Stieglitz. Wow, could this guy photograph hands. Some of his other stuff is a bit wacky - but he had hands down. I have one of his books in my studio. It's nice to look at the work of some of the older well known film photographers for inspiration. I'm hoping he will inspire my Project 52 Friends this week. {Today's hand model is young Madison, also known as my shadow or mini-Me}

This week, I knew I wanted my shot in Black and White, so of course I was confident in using my favorite Nik software - Silver efex. I knew I wanted to shoot wide open capturing only hands. But What are those hands going to hold? I tried hands holding baseballs, vintage cameras, candy...I even tried all different sized hands ~ thanks to the willing Ellenburg Trio. I finally settled on Grant's dirty baseball hands. He had just won a killer game & said he scrubbed those hands, but it's quite doubtful.

He's holding some wooden beads. I've got a splotchy gray backdrop up that I complete blurred out in camera. We used only one soft box to achieve this shot.
Many Thanks to all the talented photographers participating in our Ellenburg Photography Project 52 Challenge on Flickr. It's a delight to get to know you and to learn and grow with you.
Happy Spring!
XOXOXO,
Daphne

So, What is EP Project-52?
I joined Project 52
We're a group for Photography Enthusiast and Professionals all teaching and learning through each other by photographing to a theme each week. We post our photos to our Flickr group each week by Thursday Midnight and start a new theme each Friday. Each Friday we spotlight 10 photographers and tell why they are featured. Our focus is on education (the how tos) and encouragement (don't be afraid to try something new). I'll bet there is something you'd like to learn. And...I'll bet there is something you can teach us. Check out the group, we're 66 strong this week! It's free to join and the friendships you'll make are priceless. Join us today!
