Hands.
Sunday, April 06, 2014 | By: Daphne Ellenburg
After studying Alfred Stieglitz, I really became fascinated with hand photography. I just fell in love with his black and whites and his always great lighting. He photographed busy hands. Mostly the hands of his wife, an artist. And some of them in his book, were probably from his "private collection" if you know where I'm going with this. But I bought is book anyway. I try to remember that when I'm photographing my clients and they have busy hands, I try to capture that. This weekend I photographed tiny hands winding chickens, tiny hands holding tiny toes and big hands lacing ballet slippers. I love it. I think it brings something extra to my work. Would I photograph just hands given the opportunity, sure…. but for now most of my parents would like a face attached to those hands :-)
Here is is my shot for the week. This is baby Luke, he's two. Luke was very happy to be on my wind up chicken farm this week. I'm totally a farmer this week.
Great work this week with your hand photography. I loved so much of it!
And a bit of housekeeping, thanks for those of you who opened your sharing restrictions to allow your photo to be shared with the blog. I really appreciate you working this project into your busy busy busy week.
Our top ten is always in no particular order. When you love the shot, check out the artist. Our artists shoot to a weekly theme and pick the one best shot to load to our group each week, narrowing down is always super tough. The artist links are directly below each photograph.
Ready. Set. Here we go…
ONE {Not only is he holding the whole world but he's doing it with loving heart hands. Very crafty Irela & Don. Don, I'm always so impressed that you are in so many of Irela's weekly shots. Michael would only let me photograph his hands holding taxes this week. I said no thanks. Sad face.}

What's new with Daphne Ellenburg?
I have been really wonderfully busy. Editing and more editing and then knocking out my taxes. You can only hide your receipts in a giant cardboard box for so long. {Embarrassing.}
I went to a baseball game. You know how opening week really gives you baseball fever. We hit the Jags game on Sunday. All of us.
Jefferson had a great check up. No shots this time - Hooray! He's taller, his giant head is bigger thanks to all those curls no doubt and he almost gained a pound. He's so skinny.
Grant's yankees won the half season championship. So now were on baseball vacation for two weeks for spring break. I miss it already.
My super awesome canvas came in. Two hand painted and one computer printed. I really LOVE them. I was intimidated by them and walked past them in my floor for two days before I opened them.
I'm glad I did. They are really nice.
I also got in a few cool things for my babies - like this bed.
We started our first round of High School Seniors this weekend. It was really something fun for me. I'm already looking forward to the next one. This is Carmen. She's a real beauty.
Here's a shot of Me and Jefferson today in the Alabama Sunshine.
Wishing you a GREAT week filled with family fun and photography! Make it a GREAT week!
XoXoXo,
Daphne
