Where the Action is.
Saturday, May 18, 2013 | By: Daphne Ellenburg
Most businesses fail in the first three years, not because of lack of creativity - it's the business side. Bad bookkeeping. Tax errors. Buying too much too fast. This week, when I thought about Action; I thought about all the work we have to do to keep a float. And then I thought about all the extra work we do to stand out in the crowds. The action of participating in projects like this one, help us keep the creative juices flowing by trying new things. It's hard for me lately not to get completely sucked into the business side of my business. I've been really bringing my A game and throwing all my profit into the new lens fund. That has been taking a lot of action. I am convinced that the 35 mm 1.4 is going to change my life, and I want to earn it. Line one scares me. It's always in the back of my mind causing me to take action. Reminding me to keep learning. Reminding me to keep saving. Reminding me that shooting what I love fuels my passion for this business. Action is yours for the taking. I loved your action shots this week. I love the creativity and hunting that you did to create your weekly masterpiece. And every shot here is a masterpiece. Great work guys!
Top ten is coming. Our top ten is never in any particular order. All artist links are directly below the shot. If you'd like me to link more things to your posts, simply have them listed in your Flick info under your shot and I'll happily add it in. I'll link your facebook, website or blog.

Week 21's theme is: "It's a Song"
My shot this week was inspired by taking out the trash. Yep. It was after dinner. Close to seven at night. And the sky was simply awesome. Grant was with me.
Grant, can I take your picture? Sure.
Grant, will you change your shirt? Sure.
Easy Breezy.
My song - Fields of Gold by Sting. I love my field. Good Luck finding your Music this week.
Settings: 1/125 ƒ/2.8 ISO 2000 37 mm
Edited with Define 2.0 to kill some of the ISO 2000 grain and I popped the colors in NIK's Viveza in Photoshop CS6.
What's new with Daphne Ellenburg?
My favorite Niece graduated this week from College with a double major and Jefferson slept thru it all.
Mother's day was fabulous. Heck, the whole weekend was great. My card was huge and had a mustashe - the perk of having a teenage son. When you opened it, the bear said he loves you this much with arms spread wide. On one arm they wrote "Space" and on the other "Time" - I love those little nerds.
Grant was the star of his class play and Mike and I froze time to attend.
I love baseball. Here I am with mini ME soaking up the unforgiving Alabama Sun.
Grant's baseball team became the second half season champs! It was a great win. And then became a double header. But in the big game for all the marbles, Grant took the final out that ended the game. Seeing him so disappointed, made me sad.
I delivered lots of smiles this week. And got a photo from my awesome client of her new canvas proudly displayed in her home by her even prouder husband. I love my job.
I found the perfect downtown studio this week. Well, if I had 450K laying around. Isn't it attractive? Gotta keep a dream though.
In a week of ups and downs, this came my way. My friend says this is a clear sign that it's time to bring my 35mm lens home. Or maybe I'll win the big lotto and find my 450K. But I think I'll stick with the lens, for now. I'll drop it tonight!
Wishing you a wonderful week filled with family, fun, photography and MUSIC. Make it a great week!

Irela - What a FUN theme this week. So many wonderful entries. Thank you Daphne for the feature. BTW....that canvas is gorgeous and I think you should definitely get that storefront for your studio......it is uber-chique/vintage (is that such a thing?) Thanks again lady.....Hugs
